Why people quit in network marketingHey everyone hope everything is well for you today! Well in this show we gonna talk about a question that a lot of people asked me through my career in network marketing: Why people quit?

Do you have a team? Did you had this frustrating feeling of “I’m might not be good enough because people are quitting?”

First of all let me tell you that I understand you. I never really understood why in my first year and it took me some time to find out about the 5 main reasons of why this happen. And second, after now 7 full years in this profession I never saw anyone have a 100% retention. So don’t panic if some around you leave your company it’s a 100% normal. 

Now let’s talk about those 5 main reasons and some way to avoid them. 

5 REASONS WHY PEOPLE QUIT

Okay so I’ll give the 5 then explain a bit and give some advice on how to avoid them to happen. 

  1. The first one is FALSE EXPECTATION
  2. Then you have FEAR OF REJECTION
  3. In third position you have BEEN SOLD INSTEAD OF UNDERSTANDING
  4. Here you have the BEEN BROUGHT IN WEAKLY INSTEAD OF THINKING LIKE A BUSINESS OWNER
  5. And finally, one of the most common, A HUGE LACK OF KNOWLEDGE

1. FALSE EXPECTATION

I’m sure you already know someone that came into your business with the idea of making 10K in his first month. Is this realistic? Probably not for 99.99999% people on planet Earth. This is one of the multiple false expectation that people have. “Some others are bring on board every one that they know”, “things will happen by it self”, “I know those guyz that succeed in that business already, I’m sure they gonna get in with me”, etc etc…

In this profession, it’s really important even crucial to tell the truth! If you want to be serious in it, just be honest with you and with others. That way you will build a solid foundation to your business and get something stable. I heard too often people say: “Just sign in and I’ll do the rest”! Ring any bells? Or “Yes everyone can do this, it’s easy, even a 4 years old kid can do it.” That is true, everyone can do it. But it would be more close to, “Everyone can do this if they are ready to meet the requirements”!

So the best way to get rid of this reason why people quit is easy. Just ask! Ask them what are their goal, expectation, why do they want to join you? This is one of the way on how to qualify a prospect. If what they are telling you doesn’t make any sense, tell them the truth, and if they insist, you can always tell them the real deal! “Brother I’m sorry but this might not be for you” and move on to the next prospect!

2. FEAR OF REJECTION

Ohhh a big one here! No body like to be rejected. No one on earth is prepared to that or wanna live with that. So if your prospect is not aware of it, in a matter of days he will leave your organisation. Well there is not a lot of ways to resolve this one. You need to tell your prospect that to succeed in network marketing, he will need to accept a lack of understanding from others and maybe some social image attacks! I’ve been judge from my own friends and family when I started. Some people that I trusted and loved, blamed me for what I was doing, trying to make me feel like crap, or that I was a thief or a bandit. A lot of people don’t really know what we are doing in this profession and they have heard things about it so they think it’s true! So fear of rejection is one of the main reason why people quit in network marketing.

3. BEEN SOLD INSTEAD OF UNDERSTANDING

This one is less present but still exist and you have to understand it because sometimes we say things like: Bro, come on, we are friends since 20 years, come on, you can’t say no!” or “After all I did for you, you owe me one big time!”. Make someone feel guilty won’t make your business grow fast or make it last. If people jump in with you with a weird emotion, like guilt or shyness to say no, you won’t have good result and as soon as they will find a way to get out, they will run saying: “Well I tried and it’s clearly not for me!”

The way to solve this one? Talk with them, explain them what they will need to do, and make them understand that you gonna make it happen with or without them! It’s their own choice if they want to change their life at this very moment, not yours. Make sure that you are detach of the result of the conversation and make them feel it too. If they say yes GREAT! If they say no, GREAT! Life keeps going on and we gonna rock this thing anyway 🙂

4. BROUGHT IN WEAKLY INSTEAD OF THINKING LIKE A BUSINESS OWNER

Clearly, network marketing is not a hobby, if you run it this way, your income is gonna look like a hobby one. When you talk to someone about your business make sure you make him/her understand that they are not “trying” it. If you feel in their voice a: “Yeah why not, let’s try this” Tell them that it’s not for them. Shock them a bit, make sure they know that this is work, it’s a profession! Make them think like if they would just invest $100,000 and look at their reaction. If they would just open a coffee shop, would they have any choice to get up or not in the morning? Would they have any choice when it comes make the paychecks or pay invoices? No!! They would get up every giving morning to go to work and make it happen. If you don’t have that same feeling inside when you commit to network marketing, you will never gonna succeed! Trust me, I “tried” a lot before understanding this point.

5. LACK OF KNOWLEDGE

Would you ask your best friend that is baker to come and build your house? Probably not! Why? Because he might not know how to build a house because he didn’t study it! In this profession, it’s the same thing. One main reason why people quit is a major lack of understanding what they are doing. There is no magical secrets to succeed in relational marketing. The only way is to learn it. There is multiple courses on that subject.
