SALES VS MARKETING

Are you in the network marketing profession or the direct selling industry?  If yes, where do you locate yourself? Do you think that you are a sales person or a marketing person? Well read more here to find what you are right now and maybe what you can become in the future!

THE SALE PERSON

Are you making 400 calls per day? Do those calls leads you to on or two sales in this same period of time and make you go through a tons of “NO”?  Do you feel that you need to talk with the entire world to be able to succeed in this profession?

If you say yes to those questions my friend it’s because you are doing the old school techniques on how to be a good sales representative.  And by the way, if you are doing all of the above, I have to congratulate you cause you are one out of a million that move their a** to succeed and you are surely making a tons of cash right now 🙂  But Like I said, there is only as little as 3% of the people that can achieve their goal by doing this that way.  And I don’t want to be rude but it’s not the technique that does not work, it’s the people that try to apply it!  Lack of time, lack of energy, lack of willpower and courage, lack of mind set are only a few of the multiple reasons that people give me for not doing it! Cause frankly, it ask for a lot of courage at the beginning and to learn how to be completely detach of the result to be able to go through that high numbers of “NO”!  One of my friend and top leader in this profession can teach you the way to succeed on how to network and recruit quality people.  His name is Todd Falcone and he his a real fan of Old School techniques.

What About the 97%

As a professional, I’ve learn how to use both, the old school stuff and the new school stuff.  The new one is Marketing.  For a lot of people, doing even the first call seems impossible.  They are heavily breathing, the phone is weighting a thousand pound and they have cold sweat all over their face.  And it’s okay, I was like that when I did start and sometimes, still like that today 😉 hehehe!  So let me ask you a question, would it be more easy for you to call someone that request information from you about your abc business or XYZ product that you want to sell?  Pretty sure that the answer is YES!

Back in 2009, I’ve discover a way to bring people to you instead of chasing them!  We call this Attraction Marketing.  There is a lot of things that you can learn on the net about this.  An other friend of mine, Andrew Murray, create a really good system to do so and can lead you from scratch to build your entire business from the internet.

ATTRACTION MARKETING

What this is all about?  It’s simple, you position yourself as a leader in a niche by creating something online, and, by some tactics and strategies that some courses can show you, you will be able to attract people to you.  Do you have still to call people? Absolutely!  Sorry if this brings you down but the cold truth is that yes, people will have more will to buy from someone that they have talked too!  Is it an obligation?  No it’s not.  There is people that generate sells from internet without calling any prospect or customers.  But you will need to learn a skill that is call “copy writing” to be able to do so!  Cause if you are not amazingly good with words, you won’t be able to sell a lot of stuff!

So if we summarize the differences between Sales and Marketing it would look like this.

SALES PERSON:

  • Need to have good skills on the phone
  • Going through a huge list of people
  • Playing the numbers game
  • Not afraid of rejection

MARKETING PERSON:

  • Position his-self as a professional
  • Do action to make people find him
  • Become a problem solver
  • Keep building his list none stop and can market through it not only for his primary business
  • Can take a bit of time before it’s start to build big

So I hope that will help you to find where you are and where you wanna be! Take care and see you on the next post
